As nearly all business owners realise, these days websites are an essential part to any business. They are powerful tools that can allow companies to connect with customers like never before and allow businesses to potentially advertise free of charge. One thing that always gets me is that some businesses really don’t realise how powerful their website can be, it can single handedly change someone’s perception of a business. A website that looks professional will instantly gain a users trust, equally a website that looks cluttered, inconsistent and thrown together will shatter this trust.
As the first part of a new series I will be focusing on websites from local businesses and showcasing the websites that have been created properly. Websites that not only make you remember them but encourage you to interact. As I myself am based in High Wycombe I think its only fair we start there.
Bucks New University

I’m not really one for saving the best till last so I’m going to open on my favourite design of the group. This design is clean, fresh, modern and looks very now. This is the perfect message for the University to portray. Hats off to the team behind this, making such a nice looking, functional website with that much content is no easy task.
Eden Shopping Centre

Another nice site, especially when you take into account the amount of information it needs to display. In general there are some things I would personally change and certainly some areas that could use a bit more attention to detail considering the likely budget. Overall though, a very nice website.
Sytner BMW

This is a very modern and clean website that uses large imagery to show off the cars as they are main focus of the company. The site is done very well however I think this does run off Sytner / BMW template so isn’t exactly unique. Even so, a professional look is portrayed across the website.
Fish Partnership

Before we start with the Fish Partnership I have to say it does have various spacing issues and general inconsistencies, however overall this site gives a nice clean professional impression. It also stays very strong to its own branding with blue and orange used throughout the website. Its an effective site and with a small amount of effort could be made even better.
BBZ Guitars

I’m not sure exactly what it is about this site but as soon as I looked at it I knew I was going to put it in this showcase. What’s been done here is not exactly rocket science, in-fact its very simple but it works perfectly. Straight away you know what their product is, you can navigate easily and the spacing throughout the site makes it very easy to read. This site is a great example of what all small businesses should aim for in my opinion.
School of Motoring

Again, before we start this site is clearly a WordPress template site. That’s not a bad thing but it makes it a little less unique and its likely someone else out there will have something similar. Although throughout the site there are various things that are not perfect (mainly spacing) this site does have a great header, in terms of design that is. The links on this well designed header are broken, what a waste. With a little bit of work on functionality and fixing the logo background this site would work very well.
So, that concludes my showcase for High Wycombe web designs. Of course I have not had the privilege of seeing every website from High Wycombe so if you feel there is a website I have missed and deserves recognition please let me know and I will take a look.
